Privacy
I’m starting to think no one cares about privacy any more. Why aren’t people more upset about the wire-taps? Do we feel nurtured and loved when we get targeted messages from amazon telling us what books we might like, or from tivo what shows we might want to watch? Well, ok, tivo usually gets it wrong, but amazon is often pretty good, so should I be concerned that I’m being profiled for my consumer habits or happy that I’m getting a chance to find out about the latest books by an author popular with other people who like what I like? Is this part of the process of reducing us all to a few types, more easily managed, more predictable, more consistent, more programmable? Here I am writing this here in the attic instead of in a diary–maybe next I’ll post some nekkid pictures so you can tell me if I’m hot (or not)…
